Knowing everything about the feminized cannabis seeds

The cannabis plants arrive in two sexes, primarily male and female, that blend well with their genetics through pollination for producing the seeds like several living things. These seeds would then have about a 50% chance of inheriting the sex of either parent. So, today we are going to look into feminized cannabis seeds and the know-how to grow them!

Male cannabis plants are generating very few cannabinoids that face several growers, the prospect of scrapping about 50% of the crop. The feminized seeds are developed due to this reason. So, what are the feminized seeds, and from where do they come? There is a remarkable answer to this feat of horticulture and genetics.

Understanding the Feminized cannabis seeds

The feminized seeds are mainly the cannabis seeds that are genetically guaranteed to grow into a female plant. The female plants produce far more CBD and THC compared to their male counterparts, but once a female plant fertilizes, resources and energy are diverted from the growing rich, sticky flowers to growing a healthy crop of seeds instead.

These seeds are great and required as they may inherit the gender of either parent as we have seen that males generally cannot be used for harvesting cannabinoids.

Half of the male can be frustrating, to say the least, while growing for cannabinoid production, pumping water, fertilizer, and time into your plants. The single male plant can pollinate the whole grow room leaving the whole crop-producing seeds instead of flowers.

Furthermore, inspecting your male attributes and removing them from the grow room will take attention and time that can otherwise go into treating the female plants.

How Feminized Seeds Are Made

Two female parents should bring out the female seeds, which on the surface sounds quite not possible. However, under extreme circumstances, female cannabis plants are able to produce their own pollen. Therefore, the initial step towards the feminized seeds is inducing the production of pollen on the female plant.

The chemicals will suppress the hormone, which is known as ethylene, causing the plant to produce male characteristics, including the pollen sacs. The pollen in it will carry almost 99% of the female genetics. The pollen is then harvested and applied to the female flowering plant for producing seeds with pure female genetics.

The more natural method involved here is modelization which is favored mainly by the organic growers. The unfertilized females will start expressing the male pollen production as their final effort at continuing their genetic line near the end of the life cycle of the cannabis plant.

It generally occurs after the prescribed time frame included under harvesting but not at all times. As a matter of fact, several growers keep a sharp eye out for these manners or the banana-shaped growths protruding from the flowers since they are able to fertilize the other plants and stop flower production.

Conclusion

The feminized cannabis seeds have become the standards of the industry, mainly for the home growers who do not have the resources and space for scrapping half of the crop that turns out to be male. There are several sites that are at default to offer feminized seeds, as some growers have undoubtedly planted them without completely understanding the science behind them. You can also grow them without knowing what they are, as they will still deliver a lush, low-maintenance cannabis plant which is the main thing behind the popularity of these seeds.
